The future and more from Richard Sprague

Caloric restriction diets won’t help you live longer, report John Phelan of the University of California Los Angeles and Michael Rose of the University of California Irvine. People are larger and have other differences with mice and other animals for which super-skinny is a known way to extend lifespan.

Offhand from the news article it looks to me like they are making a claim based on very indirect logic (such as the differences in lifespan among differently-dieted Japanese people). But I thought the whole point of CRD is that you must go extremely radical or not at all. Just eating less won’t help (and might hurt). You have to eat a LOT less for many, many years.
