Babies learn from humans, not TV

Patricia Kuhl TED talk on new experiments with babies that show details about the critical period between 6 and 10 months when they start to zero in the specific language of their cultural environment.  She finds that babies exposed to Mandarin spoken by a live human in front of them learned key sounds, but those who were exposed to video or audio did not.
